Interpreting medical conferences, hearings of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA), training courses and seminars

Medical congresses, symposia, G-BA hearings, training courses and seminars are almost exclusively attended by health care professionals. Patient findings, research results, treatment options, medications, clinical images, medical devices and other highly specialized matters must be interpreted clearly and precisely into the respective target language. This requires intensive preparation on the part of the interpreters. A key factor is whether the client provides presentations and other documents in advance. Interpreters at medical conferences sometimes also need strong nerves, as it can happen, for example, that the conference is switched live to an operating room.

Interpreting hospital audits

Interpreters during a medical audit in a hospital

Audits leading to international certification of a hospital are increasingly in demand in Germany. Non-German-speaking auditors are supported by our interpreters during hospital inspections, which usually last several days. All conversations with the German-speaking staff are interpreted either consecutively or whispered simultaneously. If necessary, our professionals can also provide ‘real-time’ translation of medical documents.

Interpreting medical market research

We have been working in the field of medical market research for many years with numerous market research agencies and research institutions in Germany, the UK, the USA and Italy. A consequence of the Covid pandemic is that international medical market research projects now typically take place online. Normally, the client provides the platform on which the German interview with doctors and/or patients takes place. The interview is then interpreted simultaneously for the international observers. If desired, the interpreters can make a recording of their interpretation.

Intensive preparation is the key to high-quality simultaneous interpreting in medical market research. However, this can only be guaranteed if interpreters are provided with the discussion guide, the screener and all stimulus materials that are to be used during the interview. Of course, all information provided to the interpreters is treated confidentially.
